Points To Bear In Mind When Purchasing A Standing Mirror

If you’re thinking of buying a free standing mirror, you’ll be pleased to know that they are back in style. This type of mirror is very practical and is often made in stylish designs. Before making your purchase, here are a few things to consider.

Firstly, if you have small children, it might not be such a good idea. The children would probably be able to get easy access to it, break the glass and injure themselves. From a practical point of view, the mirror is also likely to get dirty with children’s finger prints, so it will need regular cleaning.

Consider the space where you plan the mirror to stand. There should be enough space in the room to enable you to move away from the mirror and see your whole body. If you can’t, then perhaps you should consider a mirror mounted on a wall or a door.

When you see a mirror that you fancy, check the height. If you are a tall person, the mirror will need to have sufficient height. Many have an adjustable height control so this should solve the problem. Check the width of the mirror as well because they are made in varying widths.

Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself from all angles. Test out the adjustable positions to ensure that you are satisfied. Also make sure that the hinges on the adjustable lever are strong but easily moveable. Check that the mirror itself is sturdy. Do this by gently bumping it.

If your room is on the small side, measure the base of the mirror. You need to be sure that you can still open the bedroom door when the mirror is in place. Finally, it would be nice if your new standing mirror matches your bedroom’s decor. If cost is a factor, you can get a cheap mirror in unfinished wood which you can varnish or paint to match your decor.
