Styles of Patio Door Window Treatments

Whether you have sliding glass or French type patio doors, creating just the right patio door window treatment just takes a little thought, and some knowledge of color combinations. The selection of just the right curtain fabric and style is just as important, as you want a decorative style window dressing that is functional as well. If your budget is limited, there is no need to worry, as the drapery industry has become so competitive over the few years that just about any style of window treatments for patio doors is within reach of the average homeowner.

Eyelet Curtains

One of the easiest window treatments to create for typical patio sliding glass doors are the grommet or eyelet curtain style. With this style, you only have to ad two clips above the right and left side of the patio doors and then add the curtain rod once you have slipped on the curtain panels through the curtain rings installed. The versatility of this curtain is the ability to add layers of panels on the same set of rings. This allows the adding of a thermal or blackout curtain panel to the side facing the windows, and keep unwanted afternoon light from over warming the room.

Sheer Curtains

Adding a third layer to the above mentioned combination with sheer curtain panels will afford the luxury of having filtered light come through your patio windows, but provide a modicum of privacy at the same instance. By incorporating some curtain hold-backs on either side of the window, you can pull back the first two layers of drapery to expose the sheer panels. By choosing a pale shade that matches the main curtain, it will blend and further accentuate your overall window treatment.

Curtain Hardware

By using eyelet style drapes you can also add a greater impact to the overall decor theme by selecting ornamental iron or distressed antique brass double curtain rods, matching finials, and complementary tie backs made of satin or silk rope. Using the double curtain pole to separate the sheer panels from the rest of layers to make it much easier to let the sun light into your home.
